Somehow this all reminds me
of the quilt that I have made.
Different in its texture,
but it warms me just the same.
Instead of many scraps of cloth,
many colors and designs,
I have made my quilt of friendships. . .
each one different, a special kind.
Instead of stretching across a frame,
it reaches across the miles . . .
making up this quilt of friends
to warm and bring me smiles.
There you are, I see you . . .
among the colors bright.
Oh, the things we've been through . . .
the smiles and tears and strife.
My quilt would not have been the same
without you being there.
To share my life and give to me
your understanding care.
It matters not that there are frays
and tiny little tears . . .
These come from years of living life and
time has put them there.
But when the quilt is stitched together . . .
one friendship at a time . .
It all becomes so beautiful,
so perfect, and it's mine.
Although I cannot hold my quilt
for all the world to see,
You have helped to make it beautiful
and it warms and comforts me.
So, I wrap myself inside this quilt
and feel the love that's there.
It's filled with thoughts of you and
of the many things we've shared.
When you are thinking of your quilt,
I know that you will find,
it's made of many different cloths,
colors and designs.
But when it's sewn together
and hemmed by time and prayers . . .
you'll cherish it, as I do mine,
throughout
the many years.

Patchwork Friends,
that's you and me,
stitched together by memories.
