Come along as I share
a secret that lies . . .
in the clear, star-filled night . . .
of an East Texas sky.

"Can't you see her?" he asked,
with a voice so kind and so strong.
"I'll give you this gift, . . .
so you won't feel alone."

I couldn't imagine . . .
my heart just couldn't see,
that what was given that night
would become so precious to me.

The crickets were chirping . . .
the summer breeze touched my hair.
"Please show her to me."
He smiled and begin drawing with care.

He pointed up to the moon.
So big and so bright.
It would happen, I knew it.
I'd see her that night.

With his hands the years
had left rough and yet kind,
he traced in the air . . .
until her face I could find.

All this time she had been there . . .
but I did not see.
Not until in his kindness,
he showed her to me.

My heart filled with wonder . . .
the moment I knew she was there.
The moon held a secret,
it was so perfectly clear

Each time I gaze at the moon . . .
I feel the miracle of love,
and the hand that drew her for me
in the sky up above.

Blessings are like that night
full of crickets and stars.
Sometimes we don't see them
For just what they are.

But once they're revealed,
by God's patience and love . . .
They will always be with us,
His gifts from above.

If you're not seeing blessings,
it's time that you took . . .
a moment to remember the moon.
You just needed to look.

2 Cor 4:6-7 KJV
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

This is a true story. Each time I look at the moon, I see the Lady. She reminds me that love shares secrets. It is kind and gentle. Memories of my grandfather "Papaw" flood my heart at the sight of the moon.
It was from him and my Mamaw that I learned of the love of Jesus.
They were God's messengers in my life.

I want to share 'The Lady' with you. Look at this drawing and when the moon is out, go find her. She's there! Once you see her, you will wonder how you could ever have missed her. She's beautiful.
As I have passed 'The Lady in the Moon' on to my children and grandchildren, I know that each time they look and remember the moon, they will know they are loved.

Thank you, Papaw. What a beautiful gift.
